2 Kinds Of Braces You Can Get

If you aren't happy about how you look, you may want to talk to your dentist about getting braces because they can straighten out your teeth and give you a smile that you really want to have. When you talk to your dentist about braces, you may want to ask them about the various kinds of braces. There are a wide variety of styles of braces, and your dentist may suggest that you get one kind over another. So, what are the different kinds of braces that you might be able to get?

Invisible Braces

These aren't traditional braces. They are more like aligner trays that you wear. The way that they work is that you have a mold of your mouth taken, and the trays are formed. You wear the trays, and they slowly move your teeth from the position they are into the desired finished position. You will have a series of trays that you will need to wear. Each of the trays will have a different setup for your teeth, which allows your teeth to move. Because the trays are clear, no one will know that you are wearing them unless you tell them you are. The nice thing is that you can take them out to eat and then put them back in when you are done eating.

Lingual Braces

These braces go on the inside of your teeth, the tongue side, instead of the outside. They will still move your teeth around, but they are hidden so that no one will see them. This is a great choice for you if you are an adult and get braces when you are older. You may feel a little embarrassed about getting braces as an adult, so if your dentist can give you these braces, you may want them to. You will want to be careful if you get this kind of braces because it could be easy for your tongue to get scratched by the brackets until you get used to wearing them. There are dental waxes that you can put on the brackets while you are getting used to having them so you don't hurt your tongue.

If you are going to get braces, you should talk to your dentist about all the different kinds of braces out there. You and your dentist should find the ones that will work best for you and your needs.
